Lexus GX gets a replacement – the 2016 Lexus TX

2015 Lexus GX seems to be the last model of this SUV, since rumors about its replacement – the 2016 Lexus TX are floating the web. Seems like the Concept Lexus presented almost 10 years ago will finally come to light, and it will carry the TX nameplate. This news were started by several sources, and some of them came directly from Lexus. One of its officials, Brian Smith (USA vice-president of marketing) suggested that Lexus plans to switch one of its three-row crossovers to unibody platform. Since the LX and GX are the only two SUVs which correspond to this description, and the LX is not going anywhere, the GX is the only reasonable choice.

2016 Lexus TX platform and design

Based on the Concept SUV, premiered before couple of years, new TX SUV will feature the latest trends in the automotive industry. Its body will be built on a unibody platform, and during the construction Lexus will use light-weighted materials, in order to make the TX as competitive as possible. As you were able to notice by looking at latest car reviews, almost all producers are going with this strategy during their models construction. The reason is that these light materials, although pricy, bring much more good things than bad. The fuel consumption is getting better, as well as their maneuverability.

When it comes to appearance of the 2016 Lexus TX, we can expect few things. First, latest exterior features will be available, including LED lighting technology and power doors and mirrors. Big and specially design wheels will also contribute to overall stunning appearance, while its shape will be more round than boxy.

Interior will follow the exterior appearance, and reflect what Lexus is known for –the luxury. Although there are no official data about the TX, we are sure that it will bring numerous tech features and top notch upholstery.

2016 Lexus TX engine and mpg

According to latest info, the 2016 Lexus TX will be powered by a 3.5 liter i-VTEC SOHC V6 engine with 290 horsepower with 247 lb-ft of torque. Whether this engine will be the only option, we can’t claim for sure, since Lexus keeps these things secret, and we will probably found out after its release. Transmission and drivetrain options are not available, so we won’t speculate about it, but we will inform you about all news as soon as they become available.

Considering that it will be light weighted SUV, its fuel economy should stand out among its competitors. However, if you are not satisfied with above average numbers, and you look for top efficiency, than perhaps you should wait for a while, since Lexus plans to release the hybrid version of its SUV. 2016 Lexus TX Hybrid will not be available at the same time, as the regular model, but will go on sale shortly after the regular TX.
