2016 Toyota Vellfire Review

Just a month ago, Japanese manufacturer launched latest generation of its Vellfire minivan. 2015 model received numerous upgrades, and this is the main reason why we won’t see as many changes in 2016 Toyota Vellfire. In fact, 2016 Vellfire will be mainly carried over, with possibility for some minor changes, which could include some feature shuffling or additional exterior paint. The name of the model comes from combination of words velvet and fire. Here is the review of its most important specs:

Newly redesigned Vellfire MPV looks modern and luxurious. Its front end features two-stepped headlamps, while on the back it offers more classic design of the taillights. It has five doors and place to accommodate up to 8 passengers. Combined with its twin brother Toyota Alphard, Vellfire has bolder design which represents “power and innovation”.

However, the most interesting thing about the 2016 Toyota Vellfire minivan is its interior. Versatile, luxurious and comfortable are the three words that describe the best the Vellfire’s interior. Seats can be accommodated in various ways, which offers versatility for their owners, and opportunity to adjust seating arrangements to their needs. Vellfire is highly equipped with numerous features, and upholstered in high-quality materials. Its interior has metal and wood inserts that provide a touch of luxury. The ride is comfortable and quite thanks to various noise-cancelation systems and body shape that provides less wind noise. 16 Colors Ceiling Illuminations, 17-Speaker Premium Audio System, Triple Zone Automatic Climate Control are just some of the features you will find in this MPV.

2016 Toyota Vellfire performance

2016 Toyota Vellfire will keep the same powertrains as earlier model. This means that buyer will be able to choose between three engines.

First option is a hybrid powertrain. It is based on a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine capable to deliver 150 hp paired with Toyota’s eCVT and E-Four system. This engine is further combined with two electric motors. Front one produces 141 hp and rear one 67 hp.  Fuel economy of the 2016 Toyota Vellfire hybrid is rated at average 45.6 mpg.

Second engine is a 2.5-liter, which is also the base option, paired with a 7-speed Sports Sequential Shiftmatic Super CVT-i transmission. Optional Stop & Start System is also availbe with this power combo and fuel economy is rated at 30.1 mpg.

Third engine option is a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine capable to deliver 276 hp. Its standard transmission is a 6-speed Super ECT automatic and fuel economy 22.3 mpg.

2016 Toyota Vellfire price and release

Release date is still unavailable, but do not expect 2016 Vellfire MPV to be available on the market before 2016 calendar year. In fact, it is most likely that we will have to wait spring or even summer 2016 for Vellfire’s release. Price of the model will stay in the same range, meaning it will start around $27,000.
