2016 Toyota Sequoia Redesign and release date

A lot of rumors could be heard in past couple of months when it comes to 2016 Toyota Sequoia. At some point, Japanese producer even thought about ending the production of this SUV. This decision was reviewed due to unsatisfactory sales results of the model, but luckily, Toyota’s officials made the right decision, at least according to Sequoia’s fans. 2016 model year will not bring anything exiting when it comes to its looks and performance.

2016 Toyota Sequoia exterior and interior

Upcoming Sequoia exterior will have small to none changes. Beside revised front bumpers or fascia, any other exterior change is unexpected. Things that will be added or changed for 2016 Toyota Sequoia will include couple of thing that don’t include any major investments, such as new exterior paint.

Sequoia shares its platform with Tundra pick-up, and these two could share even more in the future. Second gen Sequoia will not end with 2016 model year, but, if Toyota continues to insist on a full lineup of its body-on-frame SUVs, big redesign with massive changes could follow for 2017 model year.

Trim levels will be carried over, so expect it to be available in SR5, Limited and Platinum. Interior of this SUV offers plenty of space, and comfort, as well as some great features. Although there is couple of thing customers complain about when it comes to Sequoia, its functionality and space are always on top of the list of strong points.

2016 Toyota Sequoia engine and fuel economy

The biggest downside for 2016 Toyota Sequoia continues to be the same as for previous models, which is its fuel economy. Although Japanese producer didn’t prepare (at least we are not aware of such thing) surprises regarding its performance, we do believe it will add on some boosters in order to improve its fuel efficiency. Previous model’s delivered only 13 mpg in the city and just 17 mpg on the highway which is much less than its competitors such as Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition.

The engine is carried over, and it is a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The power of the engine is transferred to either rear or all wheels, depending on personal choice, via 6-speed automatic transmission. 2016 Toyota Sequoia accelerates from zero to 60 in about 6.5 seconds, and has towing capacity of 7400 pounds.

2016 Toyota Sequoia price and release date

It’s unlikely that Toyota will release 2016 Sequoia any time soon. Its release date is expected during the second half of next year, and more reliable info about the model or its final specs will be published as we approach its launch. Stay tuned, since we will provide an update about potential changes of the model. At this moment, price of 2016 Toyota Sequoia is not available, but according to sources close to company we can expect it to stay in current range which goes from $45,000 up to $62,000. These information are subject to change, due to the fact that Toyota may decide to make some last-minute changes, which would influence the price too.
