2016 Toyota Prado is one of the smallest SUVs from Land Cruiser line-up. Toyota Motor Corporation, Japanese car producer, started with production of its Land Cruiser model back in 1951, while production of the Prado model started few decades after that, in 1984. Since then Prado came a long way and became one of the most popular vehicles from the line-up.

Toyota Prado was refreshed for 2014 model year, when it received couple of changes. This time around great-looking model received minor changes which will not influence the overall appearance of Prado model. Rugged front appearance is perfectly combined with elegant body lines.

Upcoming model, 2016 Toyota Prado, will be available in five trims including GX, GXL, Altitude SE, VX and Kakadu. Front grill is made of chrome and designed with five vertical bars, which give the Prado aggressive and rugged style. It is highly equipped with both exterior and interior. Off road performance of the 2016 Prado is packed with extensive package of equipment which enables the driver to enjoy during the ride even on most demanding terrains.

Interior is luxurious and simple to use. Its offers great features in great-looking environment, which is made of highest-quality materials, especially on VX and Kakadu trims. It has capacity to accommodate from 5 to 7 passengers, while third row can be folded flat to provide great luggage space. High tech features also don’t lack. Performance of the 2016 Toyota Prado is, perhaps, the most interesting segment of this vehicle. Japanese producer make sure to provide both gasoline and diesel engines. Gasoline engine placed under the hood of Prado model is a 4.0-liter VVT-i V6 which is capable to produce up to 271 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Diesel power unit is a turbodiesel 3.0-liter Inline-4 capable to deliver up to 170 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual, while some trims only have automatic, which is also only option paired with petrol engine.

Fuel economy of 2016 Toyota Prado with diesel unit and automatic gearbox will probably be rated at 22/32/28 mpg city/hwy/combined since those are figures for previous model. With manual it will deliver 22/30/27 mpg. Petrol unit will return 15/25/20 mpg city/hwy/combined.

Drivetrain is 4×4, while its towing capacity is around 5,500 pounds. Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control, Hill-start Assist and Downhill Assist Control are all part of Prado’s technology list, and on upper trims, Toyota added few more.

The price of the upcoming model is not available yet, but it will stay in current price range which goes from $46,500 up to $71,500. However 2016 Toyota Prado price will probably feature small increase compared to its predecessor, which will be around $500 per trim, so 2016 Prado will probably start around $47,000. The release date is not expected before second half of 2015, but closer to the end of it. Still no confirmations or hint about exact date from the company officials, but we will keep you updated about possible delays or earlier release.
